NEW 3008 HYBRID4 WINS 'WHAT CAR? GREEN CAR AWARD 2011'

NEW 3008 HYBRID4 WINS WHAT CAR? GREEN CAR AWARD 2011

Peugeot has further cause to celebrate today with the new 3008 HYbrid4 gaining its second award prior to launch. Following on from the coveted Diesel Car Magazine, ‘Best Eco Car of the Year 2011’ honour, won earlier this year, it has now been awarded a 2011 What Car? Green Car Award for the SUV category.

The new Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4 is the world’s first full diesel hybrid. This environmentally friendly, ground-breaking car introduces a combination of diesel and electric power, a real breakthrough in technology and renewed driving sensations, while also delivering huge benefits in cost of ownership.

HYbrid4 technology delivers low CO2 and High Mpg, but without compromises, through its four driving modes Auto, ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle), Sport and 4WD. In addition, there are clear reductions in ownership costs of the 3008 HYbrid4 through improved fuel economy, reduced Vehicle Excise Duty and BIK taxation, strong residual values and exemption from the London Congestion Charge.

Chas Hallett, Editor-in-Chief at What Car? commented on the award for the Peugeot 3008 HYbrid4: “The world’s first production diesel hybrid is the best hybrid the What Car? team has driven. The joint power sources work together seamlessly and emit only 99g/km of CO2. This means the car is exempt from both road tax and the London Congestion Charge. The SUV sector continues to be popular, and we can see a waiting list for the Peugeot growing very fast.”

Morgan Lecouper, Marketing Director commented: “Peugeot has long paved the way in diesel engine development and HYbrid4 is at the fore of automotive technology. Having the 3008 HYbrid4 being recognised in this way by What Car? is an honour and one we are extremely proud of.”

The 3008 HYbrid4 range currently offers a Limited Edition version, plus a 99g/km CO2 version and a 104g/km CO2 version - all available to pre-order now.

TWO WORLD DEBUTS FROM PEUGEOT AT THE FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW

Two World Debuts from Peugeot at the Frankfurt Motor Show

For Peugeot, the product offensive launched in 2010 continues in 2011 with two strategic aims: becoming an international brand and an enhanced brand positioning.

To illustrate this dynamic approach, at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, Peugeot is:

  • Deploying its diesel-electric hybrid technology on the new 508 RXH
  • Unveiling the HX1, a concept car that combines radical styling with environmental excellence
  • Reaffirming its position as an environmental leader in the automotive industry

508 RXH: Diesel-electric hybrid with distinctive appeal
The 508 RXH, is the third model in the accomplished 508 range. Due for launch in Spring 2012, the 508 RXH is a modern and distinctive upmarket model from Peugeot, both in its dimensions and visual identity.

The 508 RXH has a distinctive identity through its individual front end, flared wings, new daytime running lights and an exclusive body colour. The interior is equally characteristic; harmonising specific colours and natural materials.

With its wider track, 18'' wheels and raised attitude, the 508 RXH has a natural stance that is inspired by its all-road capability. Furthermore, thanks to its HYbrid4 powertrain, it offers a responsible and intelligent driving experience.

Illustrating the cross-platform, modular versatility of HYbrid4 technology, the 508 RXH is, after the 3008 HYbrid4, the second of the brand’s models to receive the diesel-electric hybrid power plant.

With a combined output of 200 bhp from its 2.0 HDi FAP diesel engine and electric motor on the rear axle, the 508 RXH is able to provide a new driving experience with a choice of four HYbrid4 modes (Automatic, ‘Zero Emissions Vehicle’, Sport or 4WD) and exceptional fuel economy (70.6 mpg in the Combined Drive Cycle), and CO2 of 109 g/km.

Peugeot is exhibiting a Limited Edition 508 RXH in Frankfurt: the run of 300, individually numbered examples in Calern Brown with Alcantara leather upholstery can be pre-reserved online from the opening of the Motor Show at www.peugeot.co.uk. Just 30 examples will be available in the UK.

HX1: Multi-purpose Concept Car
The HX1, making its worldwide début in Frankfurt, is a concept for gauging interest and has a specification to seat up to six people in a vehicle with unconventional styling: robust, sporty, integrating the new brand identity, unparalleled aerodynamics and providing a unique interior space and driving experience.

Designers placed adaptability at the heart of their creation: the HX1 can change its aerodynamic profile to suit its environment, driving conditions and the requirements of its occupants. Due to its many ‘mobile’ aerodynamic parts that were designed with speed in mind, the HX1’s unusual ‘MPV’ architecture, very low for a length of 4.95m, results in an exceptional Cd of 0.28.

Its four reverse-opening doors provide access to the interior of HX1, the brand’s vision of a high-end passenger compartment, which combines elegance and modernity, natural materials and ultra-high technological specification. It offers its occupants an exceptional level of interior space, an innovative modular design with its original ‘4+2’ configuration, and provides the driver with a driving position that can be adapted to suit driving conditions.

With a combined power output of 299 bhp from the 2.2-litre HDi engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor integrated into the rear axle, its diesel-electric hybrid powertrain provides the functionality of HYbrid4 technology such as four-wheel drive and the ‘zero emissions’ mode with the increased capability to go 18.6 miles in this mode, due to its ‘plug in’ function. The HX1 is therefore able to obtain an astonishingly low combined fuel consumption figure of 88.2 mpg with impressive CO2 emissions of just 83 g/km.

In Frankfurt, the 508 RXH and the HX1 Concept will be joined by the 908 HYbrid4, which PeugeotSport is currently developing, and are all demonstrations of Peugeot’s pioneering and determined approach to diesel-electric hybridisation.

PEUGEOT RCZ, 508 AND ION WIN PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS

Peugeot WIN prestigiuos awards

Peugeot adds another 3 prestigious awards to its trophy cabinet with honours for the RCZ, 508 and iOn all in the same week.

The RCZ was named as 'Best Coupe' in the Auto Express New Car Awards 2011, while the 508 (1.6 e-HDi) and the all electric iOn were crowned 'Large Family Car Winner' and 'City Car Winner' respectively at the Next Green Car Awards 2011.

The Auto Express New Car Awards are awarded to the best new cars around in terms of looks, performance, green credentials and competitiveness, and this is the second year running that the RCZ has been awarded this honour.

Auto Express explains: "The past 12 months have done nothing to dim the appeal of the Peugeot RCZ. Its distinctively shaped roof and smoothly integrated rear windscreen make the kind of visual impact that rivals can only dream of. But it’s not only a pretty face that’s earned the RCZ a second Best Coupé crown in a row. Its talented chassis and strong engines deliver the performance to match its striking styling. Tempting prices ensure it undercuts rivals in the coupé class, too."

Meanwhile, at the Next Green Car Awards 2011, both the new Peugeot 508 (1.6 e-HDi) and the Peugeot iOn electric car were rewarded for reflecting the latest technologies to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. The 508 (1.6 e-HDi) won the Large Family Car category, while the iOn won the City Car category, cementing their excellent green credentials.

508 WINS 'BEST NEW CAR OF 2011' HONOUR

508 WINS BEST NEW CAR OF 2011 HONOUR

Peugeot’s critically acclaimed just-launched 508 has won its first award after being crowned ‘Best New Car of 2011’ in the Fleet World Honours.

Dubbed by the national media as Peugeot’s “best saloon yet”, the new flagship stole the limelight during a special ceremony this afternoon at the Royal Automobile Club, London.

Phil Robson, Fleet Director for Peugeot, said: “The 508 is an incredible car and what better way to open up our awards account than winning Fleet World’s ‘Best New Car of 2011’. We’re confident this will be the first of many.”

The Fleet World Honours are presented annually to those motor manufacturers, service companies and individuals who have, in the opinion of the judges, achieved the highest possible level of excellence in their respective sectors.

Fleet World Editor, Steve Moody, said: “The 508 changes the game for Peugeot. A massive leap forward from the 407, it offers a premium brand level quality cabin, a range of frugal, refined and powerful engines all wrapped in a stylish bodyshell, taking the firm right back into the upper echelons of this vital fleet sector.”

Commenting on the high level of interest in, and competition for this year’s awards, Fleet World Managing Director, Ross Durkin, said: “The fleet industry is back on its feet again after a difficult couple of years with fleet registrations accounting for over half of all new car sales. Manufacturers are investing in new technologies, especially in the area of alternative fuels, and this continues to be a strong and vibrant industry. Fleet service providers also continue to demonstrate how innovation and initiative keep pace of product development incredibly high. This must be great news for fleet customers.”
